Hadale Wario reaches out to young women and girls at safe spaces at Mukuru slums mainly social halls or just outside these halls. She has observed crucial changes among the young women, for example, initially they were scared of going for family planning services. After talking with them and creating awareness on the various methods, these days they visit health facilities and access the services. Some of the young women are referred to her by friends after which she organizes meetings with them for discussions.
The young women have also become more open and share their issues more freely unlike before when she started with them. “I have benefited a lot too from the training I have received from YOVI”, She says. She also expresses appreciation for the monthly token of $15 she receives from YOVI. ” I budget for it and it is useful to me”, says Ms Wario.
